THE ENGLISHMAN
Pop-rock songs of the great outdoors
A major artist on the Nantes music scene, he has built a powerful repertoire over time, blending a taste for polished and poetic lyrics with a musical exploration drawing from folk, pop, and rock. Three shows are currently touring: Beaux Jours (created in 2025, as a trio), La Joie de la Chute (since 2021, as a duo), and Il Pleut des Voix, which combines cultural activities with concerts.
The Englishman, a singer-songwriter, presents a new repertoire of songs in French, arranged for a trio with Jocelyn Lécuyer (Cie Avis de Tempête, Le Grand Orchestre du Lac des Singes) and Freddy Boisliveau (Des Lions Pour Des Lions, Monofocus). After a debut album, entitled *La Joie de La Chute* (The Joy of the Fall), which already showcased a rich imagination, they present new stories, new sung poems, new fascinating and exotic epics.
The trio's expansive and generous music draws inspiration from Fink, Radiohead, Badalamenti, The Cure, and Sigur Rós, while the lyrics evoke Bashung, Belin, and Burger. Landscapes unfold before our ears in a pop sound that is both raw and silky. The voices intertwine and soar through beautiful days, like others traverse wide-open spaces…
